Ultimate Warrior Workouts by Martin Rooney is a unique kind of martial arts workout book. Rather than just reading about a culmination of exercises that work from an author's perspective, readers are instead treated to tried and true workout regimens/exercises from eight different fighting styles that contribute to MMA- Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Kickboxing, Sambo, and Karate.
Interesting stuff. Before we get into what I thought, here are the specifics.

The Best Parts
This book is just plain interesting. After all, even the most fluent martial artists haven't trained extensively in all eight of the arts that Rooney gives us a glimpse of. So the demographic in question will no doubt be interested. Rooney also starts each new chapter with a style description before delving into training movements/exercises, which adds to the allure.
What's more, Ultimate Warrior Workouts also offers readers 8-week block workouts at the end of the book. These will serve as a tremendous resource for anyone hoping to get into MMA shape.
Other Considerations
You pretty much have to be in shape already in order to follow through on the block workouts. The good news is that most martial arts practitioners are in at least reasonable shape. Further, even if you're out of shape, it is possible to include a little of this and a little of that until you find yourself back in peak physical condition.
The Final Word
If you enjoy reading summaries of fighting styles and then getting a glimpse into what practitioners go through while learning an art, pick up Ultimate Warrior Workouts. If you're a martial artist looking to take your workouts to the next level or change them up, you'll also find Rooney's work useful. If you're a newbie looking to start working out, however, this book may be a little bit daunting.
Overall, it's a worthwhile piece for your martial arts training bookshelf.
