From UFC 37 to UFC 50, Robbie Lawler previously went 4-3 in the UFC, losing a bout to Nick Diaz that served as his opponent's then coming out party. Well, guess what? He's back, folks. That said, taking on a fighter like Josh Koscheck certainly doesn't seem to send the message that the UFC wanted to give him an easy return fight. Here's what happened when these two threw down at UFC 157.
Early in round one after some trading, Koscheck took Lawler down with a double leg. Lawler got up; Koscheck put him back down. Once again, the former Miletich fighter got up after eating a hard right hand. Lawler landed a couple of hard knees inside as Koscheck continued to go for the takedown. With the two in a low sprawl, Lawler hit Koscheck with a hard left hand and then came the flurry on the ground. And that was that- the referee stepped in. Kind of a premature stoppage (not crazy, but I thought it was a little bit early).
Robbie Lawler defeats Josh Koscheck by TKO 3:57 of round one.
