"I have to put a guy like Jim Miller away," said Melvin Guillard, leading into his UFC on FX 1 main event appearance. He was right. The question was, would he follow through?
Early on, Guillard landed a flying knee with some force. Moments later, he connected with a solid punch that dizzied his adversary. Miller came after him looking for the takedown in relentless fashion. But Guillard punched away as he defended, landing a hard knee upon a separation. Again, Miller dropped a level and ran his opponent into the cage wall, before Guillard gained separation.
Guillard is just so strong.
Once again, Guillard attempted a flying knee. This time, however, Miller secured the double leg takedown while his adversary was in the air. Guillard tried to get up, but Miller was able to take his back and sink in the rear naked choke. Guillard is an amazing athlete but he made that one mistake he couldn't.
Jim Miller defeats Melvin Guillard by rear naked choke at 2:04 of round one.
