News Flash- The UFC has signed with Fox. Check out the specifics here: Fox TV Deal
On Tuesday, Sports Business Daily reported that the UFC had struck a new multi-year agreement to air their events and shows on Fox, starting in 2012. Though to date UFC President Dana White has refused to confirm the agreement, new reports have surfaced from John Ourand of Sports Business Daily that Fox executives were in Los Angeles readying for a Thursday afternoon press conference that would unleash "one of the biggest announcements in FOX Sports history."
In case you were wondering, Dana White recently confirmed on his Twitter account that he too was flying to Los Angeles. And according to MMAWeekly.com, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, and current top light heavyweight contender Rashad Evans have all been called in to appear in Los Angeles this week as well.
According to sources, the deal would include up to four UFC shows on FOX's flagship network station per year, as well as programming like "The Ultimate Fighter" and other UFC shows moving over to FX and the FOX owned Fuel TV. The bottom line? If this is true, it would put MMA on the map like never before. And since it's the UFC this time, we know it will be done right.
