Early on, Lombard threw a hard front kick that was blocked. Then the two traded tough low kicks. Lombard took the center of the ring and really seemed to be the aggressor. Palhares hit home with a very hard low kick. Lombard countered with a punch. Moments later, Palhares connected with another hard low kick. Then Palhares threw a kick, which Lombard caught and nailed him with a punch for. Palhares went down, but Lombard let him back up. Another low kick from Palhares. Then Lombard landed a hard body kick, and followed it up with a right hand that seemed to dizzy his opponent. Soon after, a couple of left hands dropped Palhares to his knees; the former judo Olympian followed him to the canvas and into the Brazilian's guard.
Lombard stood up out of his adversary’s guard. Then came a huge flurry of Lombard punches, which ended with a couple of ‘good night’ lefts on the canvas. And that was that.
