So without further ado, here's how their UFC on Fuel 1 main event fight went down.
Ellenberger came out throwing some hard punches that missed early. Sanchez landed a hard low kick. Left to the body from Sanchez grazed. Ellenberger hit home with a very mild body kick. Solid left from Sanchez; Ellenberger connected with a mild punch in return. Solid punch to the face by Ellenberger. Solid right hand counter from Ellenberger. Body kick from the Nebraskan landed soon after. Sanchez hit home with a mild jab. Grazing right hand after a body punch from Sanchez. Solid knee from Ellenberger as Sanchez came forward aggressively. Decent exchange, which Sanchez got the better of. Another nice punching exchange, with Sanchez getting the better of things with a solid uppercut. Ellenberger then connected with a left-right combination that floored the former TUF 1 winner. Sanchez got right back up. The two really threw down at the end of the round, with Sanchez hitting home with a nice kick but eating a hard…I mean hard….left hand while coming inside. Sanchez is cut on the nose.
Ellenberger wins round one.
After a feeling out process in round two, Ellenberger hit arm and body with a kick. The two traded kicks from there. Right hand from Sanchez grazed. The two traded, with Sanchez landing a kick and Ellenberger a punch. Nice left from the Nebraskan. From there, Sanchez really started to do pretty well, landing a few rights, until Ellenberger dropped a level and took him down, that is. And before the end of the round, Ellenberger landed some big time elbows, opening up Sanchez’s cut even further.
Ellenberger has both rounds in his corner.
The third round saw Sanchez outstrike Ellenberger for most of it, opening up a cut on his opponent. But then Ellenberger took him down. Sanchez, however, turned the tables on him, taking his back and literally pounding away on him. I mean, beat the tar out of him until the tail end of the stanza, when Ellenberger got up and the two traded in a big way.
Sanchez definitely takes round three. But Ellenberger should take home victory.
Jake Ellenberger defeats Diego Sanchez by unanimous decision.
