Follow Through With Your Strike

Forcefully extend the arm and twist your waist into your target. Your weight should go forward into your front leg, which is bent for support. Your back foot should lift and pivot on the ball of the foot. Strike in an arcing motion, making sure to strike and then power through your target. Your hand should end up slightly above waist level, out to your side. As with any technique, be sure to keep a comfortable bend to the elbow, and the maintain a tight fist. Both of these precautions are necessary to prevent injury.
