Henderson's submission defense is solid, but he isn't much for submissions himself. As for cardio, he can fight deep into bouts, but is not known for upper level conditioning. Then again, the guy is over 40 years old, so who would be?
What Lyoto Machida brings to the table: Machida is karate done right in MMA. He is probably better than anyone else at moving in and out of harm's way, and has a karate striking style that lends to blitzkrieg and powerful strikes, albeit when you least expect them. Machida is also a more than capable wrestler and submission fighter; he's as well rounded in the game as they come. But he is first and foremost a karate-based stand up fighter.
Dan Henderson vs. Lyoto Machida Prediction: Henderson's wrestling and takedowns are not what they used to be. That said, wrestlers have historically had a lot of trouble closing the distance on "The Dragon". He's just too good at distance control. Expect that to be the case here. Further, with Henderson's aggressive style, expect him to get hit hard at one point. And that point will likely be the first time that he has ever been stopped by (T)KO during his illustrious career.
Lyoto Machida defeats Dan Henderson by second round TKO.
