Before MMA:
Miller was a high school wrestler at Sparta High School in New Jersey. He also competed on the Virginia Tech wrestling team for one year.
I didnt go there (Virginia Tech) to wrestle, and then after like a month or so I couldnt stay away, so I ended up walking on pretty late and had some injuries and stuff like that and I ended up wrestling varsity for them, said Miller in a UFC.com article. I did all right, beat some pretty tough guys, lost to some guys I should have beat, lost to some really good guys. . . I really just didnt agree with the coaches and stuff so I only wrestled one year.
Fighting Style:
Miller has solid
striking skills. However, hes most known for his
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu prowess. Along with this, Miller tends to win his bouts by stoppage via submission, something that he's proud of.
Its just the way I fight, Miller once told MMAFighting.com regarding his tendency to stop fighters rather than win by decision. I try to finish guys. Thats what gives me the rush. Im happy when I win a decision, but I dont get the adrenaline rush that I get when I finish somebody.
