Frank Edgar Biography Introduction:
It seemed like unsurmountable odds. Frank Edgar was a small lightweight; BJ Penn
wasn't. Only hardcore fans even knew who Edgar was, while Penn was a living legend. In addition, Penn had just been dominating people leading into their UFC 112
encounter. Easy win for "The Prodigy" right?
Wrong. That fight will live on forever as one of the biggest upsets in MMA history. Edgar, like a true cage warrior, came through when no one thought he could. Here is his story.

That's when the UFC came calling.
Edgar to the UFC:
Edgar made his UFC debut against Tyson Griffin at UFC 67. Despite being caught in a deep kneebar at the end of round three, he managed to persevere through and win by way of decision. Edgar went 6-1 in the UFC, losing to just Gray Maynard
, before he was given a shot at BJ Penn's lightweight title at UFC 112.
Edgar took home a razor thin unanimous decision victory there in one of the greatest MMA upsets of all-time.
Edgar is an excellent wrestler that utilizes his takedowns
and takedown defense to determine where fights take place. He is known for his ground and pound, cardio, toughness, and more recently, boxing skills. Along with this, his now famous win over Penn at UFC 112 can be attributed primarily to his ability to stick and move on his feet.
