Diego Sanchez defeats Joe Stevenson via unanimous decision in the main event: One might've thought that with the ground fighting resumes of Sanchez and Stevenson, this fight would've been a canvas battle. Not the case. Rather, Diego Sanchez connected with hard left uppercuts, kicks, and general flurries in spots the whole night. His superior footwork and more diverse striking skills allowed him to avoid the majority of Stevenson's hard punches while picking his offensive spots. When the bout did, on a rare occasion, touch the canvas, both fighters were too good defensively to allow the other any sort of real advantage.
In the end, it was a clear decision victory for Diego Sanchez in his lightweight debut.
