Justin Levens and his wife, Sara McLean-Levens, were found dead at their Luguna Niguel, California home on Wednesday. They were only 28 and 25 at the time of their deaths, respectively. Recently, more light has been shed on the case.

According to Sherdog.com’s Loretta Hunt, the autopsies of Levens and his wife continue to suggest that it was a murder-suicide that ended both of their lives, as was originally suspected. These results are still not conclusive, however.

“It was a chest wound that penetrated her heart and killed her and his was to the head,” said O. C. Sheriff Coroner’s Office spokesman, Jim Amormino. Further, a handgun was found in close to proximity to Justin in the couple’s bed.

Their deaths may have occurred on the 14th, according to reports.

Previous to his death, the former UFC fighter had fallen on hard times. He had been on a five fight losing streak and had recently tested positive for the painkiller Oxymorphone, which resulted in his being fined and suspended from competition. According to Amormino, the fire department had also come to the Levens’ home twice in the last month—once due to smoke coming out of the house and another time because of a potential drug overdose (it has not been affirmed who had potentially overdosed).

What seemed to be painkillers and antidepressants were also found, though it is not clear whose they might have been.
