Chamber the kick

Front snap kick chamber
A "chamber" is the part of the technique where the foot or hand is in a preparatory position, about to extend and strike. A proper chamber is essential. You need a good chamber to generate power and to control the speed, height and placement of the kick. A bad chamber also makes it easier to see a technique coming.

In the case of this kick, the knee is brought up first, and the ankle should be flexed downwards. The instep is the striking surface of this kick. It is important to try to flex the ankle as far as possible to get the toes out of the way. It is never fun to throw a hard kick and jam your toes.Aim your knee towards your target.
