Still, there have been other exclusively MMA publications that have fallen flat on their face. Heres the story on why that hasnt happened to this magazine.
Fight! Magazines Style
Fight! is kind of edgy. What does that mean? Well, MMA fighter Jason Mayhem Miller writes a regular article for them. If youve ever watched him enter a cage or ring then you know thats edgy on its own merit. Furthering this notion, in the October 2008 issue while going over the ten things he would change in MMA, he wrote that he wanted no holds barred events that were even tougher than Vale Tudo events in Brazil. Not just head butts and the like. Take convicts off death row, give them weapons like machine guns. . . and more. Of course, Mayhem was totally kidding.Or was he?
Still, the great thing about this magazines style is that it balances some of that craziness with flat out insightful and truly excellent writing that you just dont see everyday. The guys that contribute to editor Donovan Craigs publication, including Craig himself, have the kind of writing talent that would allow them to pen pieces for high end publications anywhere.
Lets call it edge with substance or rock solid information with flare.
The Regular Columns
Weve already spoken of the edge regarding Mayhem Millers column. What we didnt say on it is that he balances that edge with some of the most insightful commentary regarding the MMA scene that youll find anywhere. Fight! also offers regular columns on up and coming fighters, MMA gambling advice, martial arts tutorials, and regular pieces penned by NFL and MMA writer Jay Glazer.Photography and Visuals
The photography of UFC and other MMA events is excellent. Further, every month the Fight! team conducts a film shoot and interview with a female model.A fan favorite no doubt.
What sets Fight! Magazine Apart
First, theres the fact that this is a high end solely MMA publication, making it unique. Second, theres the outstanding Mayhem Miller column. And finally, Fight! does a great job with their fighter interviews, really making you feel like you got to know the person in question. Along with this, recently they did a series on the Brazilian fight scene and how it has impacted MMA that was just outstanding. The Final Word: If you like MMA then youll like Fight! Magazine. This high end publication is definitely worth a look.
