About.com Guide to Martial Arts

Robert Rousseau has been involved in martial arts in some capacity since taking Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate classes in the early 1990s. However, it wasn't until 2005 that he caught the mixed martial arts writing bug, after receiving formal training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Experience:

Robert has been writing about martial arts since 2005 for MMAFighting.com, where he is currently a senior writer. His martial arts articles have also seen their way to the pages of Fight! Magazine, MMAWeekly.com, ExtremeProSports.com, and SubmitToMMA.com. Robert has gotten the chance to interview some of the best mixed martial arts fighters in the world and recently made a television appearance on the Randy Couture Biography, which aired on the A&E channel.

Education:

Martial artists value knowledge. Well, martial arts writers do too. Along with this, Robert possesses a BA in Psychology, a Masters in Education, and the equivalent of another Masters in Psychology.

From Robert Rousseau:

When I first saw Royce Gracie defeat all comers by taking them to the ground and employing submissions back in 1993, I was impressed. Years later when Gracie defeated Dan Severn, a stellar Greco-Roman wrestler with a 90 pound size advantage, I was more than impressed—I was hooked on the sport of MMA. Eventually, I began writing about the sport and the impressive athletes that partake in it and simply never stopped.
