Coming into his UFC 157 match up against ormer TUF finalist Brendan Schaub, bruiser Lavar Johnson needed to get back on a winning track after falling to Stefan Struve. In fact, given the fact that the UFC was reportedly set to make major cuts to its roster, both fighters needed to get back on the winning track...and quick!
Here's what happened when these two tangled at UFC 157.
Early on, Schaub ducked under a Johnson punch and immediately took his opponent down. From there, the
former TUF competitor attempted an Anaconda Choke to no avail (while his adversary landed pretty hard punches from his back). Soon after, Johnson managed to get to his feet, where he tripped him to the canvas.
That said, Schaub moved toward a leglock, which allowed him to turn things over. And from there, the former TUF competitor controlled things, though did no damage.
Schaub took round one.
The story on round two was a couple of takedowns by Schaub and some nice strikes preceding them. That said, Johnson landed more punches than his adversary from his back. But I don't think it was enough to take the stanza.
Johnson probably needs a knockout in round three to win.
Round three saw Schaub control things with his takedowns again. And that was the story on the fight.
Brendan Schaub defeats Lavar Johnson by unanimous decision.
