Brad Pickett vs. Eddie Wineland. Two tough guys going at it in the 135 pound division. Here's how it all went down at UFC 155.
Early on, both fighters were aggressive. Wineland hit home with a notable left as his adversary came forward. Wineland then connected with two hard right hands, amidst an aggressive British fighter. Pickett landed a nice right hand. But then Wineland connected with a hard left and then a right which dropped his opponent for a brief moment. Later, Pickett connected with another hard punch, only to watch Wineland connect with a ridiculous hard right that put Pickett down to a knee again. Pickett took Wineland down for what amounted to a second, before the American got to his feet. Nice body punch by Pickett. Then came the bell.
Lots of strikes in that round. But it was clearly Wineland's round, based on him being the harder puncher.
Nice right hand by Wineland early in round two. Pickett keeps coming forward with hooks, but the reality is that Wineland is demonstrating good movement and connecting with hard shots. That plus Wineland's reach netted him a rather uneventful stanza.
Pickett needs a stoppage in order to win.
Round three was close. Pickett was very aggressive and landed a nice body punch along the way. However, Wineland did what he did all night long. And in the end, he should come home with a decision victory.
Eddie Wineland defeats Brad Pickett by split decision.
