The first round between Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz saw Griffin connect with some low kicks and punches on his feet. That said, Ortiz hit home with some standing punches too, albeit less, but added a takedown and some ground and pound. So it was a tough round to call. In the second, Griffin was taken down twice by Ortiz but definitely looked better than him on his feet and for a few moments at the tail end of the round when he reversed The Huntington Beach Bad Boy on the ground. That said, the stanza probably should've gone to Ortiz. The final round clearly went to Griffin, who began to pick his adversary apart on his feet and avoided two takedown attempts.
So who won that first round? Two of the judges thought it was Forrest Griffin.
Forrest Griffin wins via split decision.
