Bjorn Brooks Won't Let Blindness Stop Him From Competing in NAGA Tourney

Thursday September 24, 2009

The North American Grappling Association or NAGA regularly puts on stellar grappling and submissions competitions.  But their next edition, to take place on October 10, 2009 at Prince Georges Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD, will be a little special because of one of the competitors: Bjorn Brooks.  You see, Brooks is legally blind and has been grappling for five years now, having trained at the Lloyd Irvin Martial Arts Academy in Camp Springs, MD.  He took home the 2009 championship and now has his sights set on October.

When you hear about feats like this, it can sometimes put things in perspective.  Maybe that thing that has been keeping you from training lately isn't that hard to deal with after all, know what I mean?
