There are athletes, and then there are athletes. Former NFL star and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker is in the latter group. We're talking about one of the greatest college football players of all-time. In fact, some believe he was the best college football running back to ever don a uniform. And now Walker, a fifth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, is getting ready for another sports career, this time in MMA with the Strikeforce organization.

"I've been training for several years.  I would play college football games on Saturday and then compete in martial arts tournaments on Sunday after church.  I'm now looking forward to opening up another chapter in my life and to competing in MMA," Walker told Strikeforce.  Strikeforce CEO and founder Scott Coker recently saw Walker train and noted that he was impressed with "his advanced wrestling and striking abilities."

In the end, Walker is 47 years old.  But if you saw the guy on Celebrity Apprentice, then you know he's still in amazing shape, which is something he was known for during his illustrious football career.  Word is that he'll be training at American Kickboxing Academy.

Looking forward to seeing him mix it up in the cage.
