Mark "The Smashing Machine" Kerr used to be one of the most dominant MMA fighters on the planet. Key words: Used to be. These days, up and comers like Mo Lawal are defeating him in the first round on a regular basis. Such was the case last night at M-1: Breakthrough, when Lawal caught a first round knee strike attempt by Kerr, took him down with the single leg, and then took his back. Mere moments later after a flurry of right hands, it was over by way of TKO.
Kerr needs to stop fighting. We're not talking about a situation like Dan Severn's, where Severn keeps fighting against up and comers and wins. Kerr has now lost five straight by first round stoppage.
Mo Lawal wins by TKO after only 25 seconds in round one.
