Tae Kwon Do Athlete Opens Brothel to Support Olympic Run

Monday July 13, 2009
The 2012 London Olympics and prostitution...Two regular bedfellows if you ask me. That's right, Logan Campbell (23), a New Zealand Tae Kwon Do athlete, has opened a brothel to help fund his hopes to compete in the 2012 London Olympics. Campbell apparently told the Sunday Star-Times that his Auckland "gentleman's club," would provide escort services to help him in his bid to raise money. You see, Campbell spent around $150,000 in events leading up to last year's Beijing Olympics, an event he finished in the top 16 in. This led him to realize that he would need big time money if he were ever to compete again.

Perhaps here's the part that Campbell didn't realize. The Olympics, well, they kind of like to run a clean business. Along with this, Tae Kwon Do New Zealand funding manager John Schofield indicated that the governing body of the sport would need to discuss whether he was suitable for selection in the next Olympics games.

"Selection takes into account not just performance but also the athlete's ability to serve as an example to the youth of the country," Schofield said.

Uh oh! Maybe Campbell didn't entirely think this one through.
