Indian Girls Rely on Martial Arts to Protect Themselves
Monday June 29, 2009
When you're an American, it's easy to forget that people in some other countries aren't nearly as safe in their everyday activities as we are. Such is the case in the Punjab Ferozepur District (India) where 100 children, many of them girls, recently signed up for a 15 day martial arts workshop. Of course, there are numerous reasons why a female might benefit from martial arts training, but the core of it all is personal safety and being able to defend one's self. And that's the reason why these girls are doing it.
Simply put, the hope is that such training will begin to control the increasing molestation cases against women in the area. Here's hoping that it does exactly that.
